Water Stains
Untreated stucco will stain easily. Stucco will absorb water, along with the minerals, dirt, and other contaminants it carries. Eventually this water evaporates, leaving behind the solute, or stain. Often the discoloration is not only an eyesore, but can damage the integrity of your stucco.
Water Ends with Mold
The area behind stucco is dark and warm. The addition of moisture to this equation allows mold to grow with ease. Trapped water also rots building materials. Wood framing and windows are commonly destroyed in this manner. Trapped water that rots structural building elements can destroy the structural integrity of your home.
Water Attracts Termites
Subterranean and dampwood termites are attracted to water. Water inside wall cavities is a beacon for termites. Termites can quickly turn a small water problem into a disaster.
